Justin Rose Birthday – July 30th, 1980

Today is the birthday of Justin Rose born Justin Peter Rose in Johannesburg, South Africa, in 1980.

Most of the world was introduced to Rose at Royal Birkdale in the 1998 Open Championship, when playing as an amateur, Rose holed out on the final hole from 60 yards for a birdie and a share of 4th place.  He was low Amateur, though turned pro the very next day.

He has won 10 times on the PGA Tour, including the 2013 US Open at Merion.  Not since Tony Jacklin in 1970 had a brit won the US Open and not since Nick Faldo in 1986 had a brit won a Major.

Phil Mickelson held the lead for 3 rounds, but a final round 74 put him in 2nd place for the 6th time.

In 2016 Rose won gold at the Rio Summer Olympics and became one of only 5 golfers to have won tournaments on 6 continents.  Joining Gary Player, David Graham, Hale Irwin and Bernhard Langer.

Rose has played in the Ryder Cup 5 times, winning three.

Happy Birthday Justin

Justin Rose Birthday and Your Golfer’s Almanac is a GolfToons Production – Written, Produced, and Narrated by Michael Duranko.

GolfToons are Golf Cartoons. Check out our collection of original golf illustrations presented as cartoons and thoughts about the game of golf.  We try to offer a wry perspective that looks at every facet of this strange game of ours. The overall idea is a scheme between two golf buddies, Michael Duranko and Marty Glass. If this side-hustle makes any money, they‘re gonna blow it on a golf trip. Enjoy!
